Popularly known as South Gujarat University, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Surat is a state-level university located in Surat, established in 1965. VNSGU Surat is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and a member of the Association of Indian Universities, and accredited by NAAC with Grade 'A'. According to the university website, VNSGU Surat envisions contributing to the region's higher education keeping in mind the larger goals of building a well-educated nation. The University commits to providing the highest standards of education through undergraduate and postgraduate courses, promoting research facilities, and undertaking extensive activities to reach the different sections of society. The University has 200 acres of sprawling campus that accommodate modern facilities to provide a holistic educational environment for the faculty members and students. VNSGU Surat houses 25 postgraduate departments offering 95 programmes with multiple specialisations. Veer Narmad South Gujarat University admission is based on merit as well as entrance exams. For B.Arch admission, the NATA 2024 additional exam will be conducted on August 24, 2024, and JEE Main session 1 application is expected to start by November 2024 and the exam is expected to be held by the last week of January 2025. MBA and MCA admission is based on CMAT. The CMAT exam is expected to be held in May 2025. VNSGU fees range from Rs 3,300 to Rs 2,00,000 per semester.

Some popular Veer Narmad South Gujarat University courses are M.Sc, MBA, B.Ed, MCA, LLB, M.Com, etc., are offered through nine faculties that are further divided into departments. MSc at VNSGU is offered in 20 specialisations and some of them are Applied Statistics, Aquatic Biology, Botany, Chemistry, etc. Similarly, PG Diploma courses are offered in 13 specialisations.
