Utkal University is ranked 42nd among the state public universities in India.Utkal University has a long history. On 13th June 1943, Utkal University Bill was passed by the Odisha Legislative Assembly by Pandit Godavarish Mishra, the then Minister of Education. In 1950 the territorial jurisdiction of the university was not specified in the year 1950, so territorial jurisdiction was defined as including the whole Odisha State. The university has several departments and has taken charge of several constituent institutions. At the present University of Utkal is working with 27 post-graduate teaching and research departments on campus. It has offered 15 sponsored courses, three UGC Sponsored innovative programs, and three constituent institutions, the Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education, University Law College at Vani Vihar, and M.S. Law College at Cuttack.The PG Departments of Utkal have acquired Departmental Research Support status by UGC. The institute runs more than 200 affiliated colleges in different streams such as Humanities, Social Science, Commerce and Management, etc. The Utkal University is in jurisdiction over nine districts, including Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jaipur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh, and Puri.The Utkal University, Bhubaneshwar, is spread over 24,973 square kilometres and meets the higher education needs of a more than 110 lakh population. Summary

Utkal University admissions are open for 2025. The admission is done through the Common PG Entrance Test. OJEE is applicable for admissions into various programs at UG & PG levels. The OJEE registration for 2025 has begun and the last date to apply is 20th March, 2025, while the exam will be conducted from May 2 to 6, 2025 and May 11 and 12, 2025. For  The popular courses offered are B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, MBA, M.Phil, M.Com, M.Pharm, etc. Utkal University fees range from Rs 3,350 to Rs 3,60,000 per year.
