About Shiv Nadar University

Shiv Nadar University, also known as Shiv Nadar Institute of Eminence or SNU Gautam Buddha Nagar, was founded in 2011. It is a private multidisciplinary, student-centric research university established under the Shiv Nadar Foundation. Shiv Nadar Foundation is a philanthropic foundation established by Mr. Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL. The University was set up with a pledge to serve the need for higher education and societal welfare in India and also the global community. It mainly aims to develop and educate the path-shapers of tomorrow, capable of responsible and ethical leadership.It has four schools, viz., Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management & Entrepreneurship, and the Academy of Continuing Education. Furthermore, Shiv Nadar University was the first in India to offer a 4-year multidisciplinary research degree. Shiv Nadar has achieved a great feat by becoming youngest university in India to be recognised by the Government of India as an Institute of Eminence. Also, its has been one of the youngest universities to be ranked among the top 100 of NIRF, 7 years in a row (2018-2024). In the THE World Rankings 2024, Shiv Nadar University ranked 601- 800.
