NIT Surathkal was established as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) in the year 1960 which was upgraded as the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in the year 2002. The institute has emerged as one of the most eminent engineering and technological institutes in Karnataka. NIT Surathkal is one of the top engineering colleges of Karnataka situated in Mangalore district beside the Arabian Sea on the western coast of the country. It is an autonomous institute and is approved by AICTE for conducting technical education. There are many academic and extracurricular facilities at NIT Surathkal.
