About NIT Silchar
NIT Silchar will start the BTech admission from June 1, 2025, with JoSAA registration. JEE Main 2025 session 1 result has been released on February 11, 2025 by NTA. Candidates who appeared for the exam can download their scorecards online from jeemain.nta.ac.in. While the JEE Main Session 2 exam will be conducted from April 1 to 8, 2025.Moreover, NIT Silchar NIRF Ranking 2023 has been released by the Ministry of Education. NIT Silchar has been ranked 40th in the engineering category and 83rd in the overall category by NIRF Rankings 2023. Also, NIT Silchar has been ranked 601–800 in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking 2023. NIT Silchar courses include undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various streams including engineering, science, humanities and 11 other departments. In 2002, under the National Institutes of Technology Act, of 2007, it was upgraded to the National Institute of Technology status and was declared an Institute of National Importance. National Institute of Technology Silchar was the first to have a C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) in northeastern India. The institute has collaborated with other universities for research projects, conferences, and publications. NIT Silchar fees range from Rs 8000 to Rs 500000 per year, depending on the degree level, duration and specialization of the course. The college offers 32 courses at PG, UG and Ph.D programmes. Furthermore, NIT Silchar offers 7 courses in B.Tech at the UG level. At the PG level, the students can choose a wide range of specializations - 16 courses in M.Tech, 3 course in MSc. Admission to NIT Silchar courses are open for the academic year 2024-25. For admission the college conducts IIT JAM. In addition to this, scores of CCMT, CCMN, JEE Main, GATE, JEE Advanced are accepted by NIT Silchar.
