The Mahatma Gandhi University Nalgonda was established in 2007 by the Andhra Pradesh government in present-day Telangana’s Nalgonda district. It is a popular institution recognised by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a ‘B+’ grade. Once known as Nalgonda University, it was later renamed Mahatma Gandhi University in 2008. Initially headquartered at Nalgonda town during the academic year 2010-11, the university’s permanent campus is being developed on 240 acreages of land allocated along the Anneparthy state highway of Nalgonda-Narketpally which is seven kilometres distant from Nalgonda town.MGU Nalgonda offers many undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs ranging from M.Com, M.Sc. to MSW. For instance, Business and Management Studies; IT and Software Engineering; Science; Humanities and Social Sciences; Accounting and Commerce; Banking, Finance and Insurance among others. The faculty consists of members who are experts in their respective areas including International Business, Chemistry, English, Botany, Mathematics, Physics, Biochemistry as well as Biotechnology. Additionally, the university offers infrastructure facilities that promote effective learning among its students. The campus facilities include a library and hostels for accommodation along with gymnasiums and seminar halls that are easily accessible by students. Mahatma Gandhi University Nalgonda has an intake capacity of 830 seats only charging a fee ranging from Rs 26,310 to Rs 4,80,000.
