Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Bangalore was established in the year 1980 by the Vokkaligara Sangha. Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Karnataka, and is approved by the National Medical Committee (NMC). KIMS is recognised by The Medical Council of India/ National Medical Commission (MCI/NMC) for running MBBS courses from 1980- 81 and also for running postgraduate degree/ diploma courses in various disciplines from 1991- 91.Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences has been ranked no. 24 among the 275+ medical colleges in India by The MINT, The Wall Street Journal. KIMS Bangalore is also recognised by The General Medical Council, the World Health Organisation, and The Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists. KIMS has two campuses. The hospitals and clinical departments are on the VV Puram campus and the pre-clinical and para-clinical departments are on the Banashankari campus. Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences offers UG and PG programmes. KIMS Bangalore courses include an M.B.B.S. course as part of its undergraduate program, as well as MD, MS, and Diploma courses in a variety of specializations as part of its postgraduate program.Candidates must have completed PUC/10+2 with a minimum of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or a bachelor's degree in medical sciences with a minimum of 50% overall to be eligible for admission to the MBBS programme.
