The Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Chennai was established with an aim to impart technical education in the field of hospitality and catering management. Established in 1963, the college is currently one of the pioneer institutes available for catering and hospitality education in Tamil Nadu. IHM, Chennai is an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institute. The college is an Autonomous Body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India affiliated to NCHMCT, Noida and IGNOU, New Delhi. The Institute has seen rapid growth, expansion and popularity over the past 50 years with senior management employment for students. IHM, Chennai aims at providing opportunities for Fieldwork and Research in hospitality education as well as tourism and improving the standards of hospitality education to maintain the need of Hospitality Industry for human resources under the guidance of the Ministry of Tourism. Some of the awards won by the college are National AwardsNational Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Education by NCHMCT/ MOT and Padmasree P.Ananda Rau Memorial Award.   The Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Chennai courses include a Two Year Post Graduation M.Sc in HA, Three Year Degree B.Sc in H&HA and also 1 ½ Year Diploma and Craft Courses. The college has been providing high-quality catering and hotel courses for more than 50 years, has excellent links with the companies and has made a name for itself at the global and national level, providing staff to the industry both at national as well as international level. IHM Chennai is a member of many organizations and associations such as Federation of Hotels & Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI), New Delhi, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, Chennai, All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, South India Hotel & Restaurants Association (SIHRA), Chennai. Graduates of the college are employed at many reputed companies available in the country and outside the country.
