Guru Nanak College was established in 1971 by the Guru Nanak Educational Society to mark 500th of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who was the founder of Sikh Region. It is affiliated with the University of Madras and accredited with “Grade A” by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The college is one of the top reputed colleges in Chennai. The institutions give admission to the students according to the Govt. norms. A special reservation is given by the college (30%) to women students. The mission of the college is to create a vibrant academic environment which focuses on teaching, learning, research and outreach courses. The motto of the college is “For the benefit of all”. The college provides UG, PG programs in different specializations namely Economics, Defense and Strategic Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology, Plant Biology & Plant Biotechnology, Commerce, English, Biotechnology, Information Technology, Zoology and Social Work. It also provides Some research and Certificate programs in Economics, Defense Studies, Chemistry, Zoology, Graphic Designing, Basic Web Designing, Tally, Stock Market Trading, Spoken English and PC Hardware & Networking.
