It is a private, autonomous college in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. The college has been affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK). It has been recognised by UGC and has also been approved by the AICTE, New Delhi. The college has also been accredited by NAAC with an “A” grade and NBA. The GMRIT courses are offered to interested candidates at the undergraduate as well as postgraduate levels. There are a total of 2 courses offered to students in the stream of engineering and technology. All the college courses are available to students in a regular, offline mode. The GMR Institute of Technology admission is offered to all of its programmes based on a candidate's performance in the relevant entrance exam and the most recent qualifying exam. The college accepts a number of entrance tests for admission, including AP EAPCET (for B.Tech courses), AP ECET (for B.Tech lateral entry) and AP PGECET (for M.Tech courses).
