About Sammilani Mahavidyalaya
In 1996 on 12th December, a local college named Santoshpur Vidyamandir for boys started functioning with only three students and conducted classes during the evening. Within a mere seven months, this local college was transformed into what is known as Sammilani Mahavidyalaya today. On 5th June 2003, UGC granted this college the position to be funded under U/S 12(B) of the UGC Act 1965. The college was later accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with a B grade in the year 2005. The college was also assessed in January 2010 under SLAP (State Level Assessment Program) by the Department of Higher Education of the Government of West Bengal. The transformation of Sammilani Mahavidyalaya, Kolkata, from having three students to a student population of 2000, offering different courses in arts, science, and commerce, was made possible with the support of eminent personalities such as The former Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee The former minister of Sundarban affairs, the government of West Bengal, Shrikant Bhushan Ganguly The late Prof. Ramaranjan Mukhopadhyay Prof. K. P. Majumd
