About NIT Patna
NIT Patna was laid in 1886 as Bihar School of Training, which was later renamed Bihar College of Engineering in 2004. The National Institute of Technology Patna or NIT Patna is now a fully autonomous technical institute functioning directly under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). NIT Patna is one of the top engineering colleges in Bihar. It is the 6th oldest engineering institute in India. The National Institute of Technology status was given to Bihar College of Engineering as it lost its only Regional College of Engineering (REC) situated in Jamshedpur after the separation of Jharkhand from Bihar in 2000. According to the National Institutes of Technology Act 2007, it has been granted the Institute of National Importance status. It also has accreditation from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).Moreover, In the NIRF Ranking 2023, NIT Patna secured the 56th position in the Engineering category and the 19th position in the Architecture category. NIT Patna offers numerous courses in the discipline of technology. The NIT Patna courses offered at UG and PG levels are B. Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, M.Sc, PhD and many others. The NIT Patna placement records are excellent, with around 80% of students placed in various reputed national and international companies.

Furthermore, NIT Patna offers 9 courses in B.Tech, 7 courses in B.Tech+M.Tech at the UG level. At the PG level, the students can choose a wide range of specializations - 19 courses in M.Tech, 3 course in MSc. Admission to NIT Patna courses are open for the academic year 2025-26. For admission the college conducts UGC NET. In addition to this, scores of NATA, GATE, JEE Advanced, JEE Main, CCMT, DASA UG are accepted by NIT Patna.
