NIFT Kannur is the pioneering institute in fashion education, set up in 1986. In 2006, NIFT became a statutory institute under an act of the Indian Parliament. There are 17 campuses across the country with all the required infrastructure. The president acts as the "visitor" for all the campuses. NIFT is working in the areas of design development, handloom and handicraft. NIFT Kannur aims towards training quality professionals to go out in the fashion industry. It enhances the artistry within the students and makes them compatible, theoretically and practically, to fit into the fashion industry. Moreover, the degrees awarded by the institute are recognised worldwide. NIFT Kannur lies in the land of the Gods, Kerala, away from the hustle of the cities. NIFT started working as a temporary campus in 2008 and became permanent in 2012. The infrastructure is provided by the state government, so there is a 20% reservation for the state students.The faculty at NIFT Kannur is very talented and helpful. Moreover, the college provides every facility that students require. Several courses for UG, PG, and CE are present at NIFT Kannur. Students can choose any course according to their choice.
