The Khatra College (HS Unit) was established in the South Bankura District of West Bengal in 1976. The University of Burdwan had granted affiliation to the degree college known as ‘Khatra Adibasi Mahavidyalaya’ in 1979. It brought in two courses, Arts and Commerce (general). The college was inaugurated by the then Honorable Chief Minister, Govt. Of West Bengal, Sri Jyoti Basu, on November 18, 1979. With gradual progress, science degree courses (general) were introduced by Sri Partha De, the then Honorable Minister of Secondary Education of West Bengal. The college has also availed remedial classes and financial assistance for the SC, ST, and OBC communities with the assistance of UGC since 2010. Students are awarded scholarships based on their academic performance, attendance in-class lectures, and the economic condition of their families.
